A Brief History of Tom
I graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo a long, long time ago (Electrical Engineering), I went off to the big city to find work. I worked in a building featured on The A-Team, put in 70 hrs a week, but got to do a lot of travel. It was the perfect job to have for 6 months, and I determined that my next job should have three qualifications: jeans and a t-shirt, biking distance, and enough to live off of.
That brought me back to SLO, where I did some temp work, a couple years at a local company, then ended up right back at Cal Poly, where I’ve been for (checks calendar–20 years?!??). I started as an Audio-Visual geek, and moved more into a computer geek role. I also met the girl of my dreams and have had two amazing kiddos and gone on many adventures (where “adventures” can mean anything from building siege weaponry to playing my favorite video games).
Interests
“Lord, I am not worthy to receive You, but only say the word and I shall be healed.” These words are from the Catholic Mass, but were adapted them from Matt 8:8 and Luke 7:7. They speak to me of faith, humility, and God’s power and love for us, but more so, they just resonate with me. Not being worthy and yet being given grace anyway. Such a beautiful truth.
Music is also a big part of my life. I’m in the worship ministry at my church, and I also play elsewhere when I can. I play flute, clarinet, saxophone, recorder, and mandolin primarily, and have recently learned cajon (or the “slappy box” as I like to call it). I also tend to improvise any time I get the chance–in a local community band, jazz band, and sax quartet.
This website pretty well reflects my interests which also include retro gaming, Lego, photography, astronomy, and history. And most of all, course, my wifey and kiddos!
